Michellie Wins her third Encinitas Triathlon

Carlsbad resident Michellie Jones former Ironman World champion led the women's elite field from the swim and cruised to her third Encinitas Sprint Triathlon victory with a time of 1:04:45.4.

"That hurt," the 2000 Olympic silver medalist said after the race. " I forget how hard these sprint races can be."

Jones had a 25-second lead over Rachel Challis of Carlsbad and Kate Major of Encinitas to begin the run, and she expanded it from there.

"The run was the best for me today," said Jones, 41.

Major overcame Challis for second place among the elite women in 1:05:23.1. Challis was third in 1:05:56.6, while Katya Meyers of Solana Beach and Darlene Hunt of San Diego rounded out the women's top five.

I was not the only one racing my heart out along me were my fellow team mates of the GoMichellie.comRacing team.

Brandy B. scored the fastest Amateur of the day which also placed her in the 25-29 year age group. Marisa R. also scored a victory in the 35-39 year division. While Neels M. and Mr Eric Smith both placed 4th in the 40-44 and 30-34 divisions. Compex Greg is his third ever Tri had one of the fastest runs in his division. Of course, I also have to mention Ed Bosnac my favorite athlete he dominated the 60-64 division.

What I love most about racing locally and not just the fact I get to sleep in my own bed but the the fact you have the opportunity to share the experience with all of your friends. It was also awesome to have most of the GoMichellie.com racing team at the event along with many of my friends.
